Advanced Antenna Architectures For Tera-hertz Sensing Systems

The Tera-Hertz portion of the spectrum presents unique potentials for advanced applications. Time domain sensing of the THz spectrum promises to be the ideal tool for the diagnosis of skin cancers, for the evaluation of the quality of the air, and for the detection of concealed weapons. The THz spectrum will reveal the mechanisms at the origin of our universe, by facilitating the study of the cosmic background radiation, and will provide the means to monitor the health of our planet via satellite based sensing of critical gases responsible for global warming. In the long term, the THz spectrum will enable wireless internet links million of times faster than now. In this talk a review of modern antennas technologies with application to Tera-Hertz Sensing system, will be presented and discussed.
